Istvan T. Valyi-Nagy is General Director of United St Istvan and St Laszlo Hospitals, as well as Clinical Professor of Hematology and Oncology, Dept. of Hematology and Stem Cell Transplantation, St. Laszlo Hospital, Budapest. He holds an M.D. from the Medical School of Debrecen and has also completed the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates and Federal Licensing Examination for US medical licensure. Further, he holds a Master of Science in Management/Master of Business Administration (M.S. Management/M.B.A.) from Purdue University and the École Supérieure de Commerce de Rouen, France, as well as a Doctor of Phylosophy (Ph.D.) (experimental oncology) from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

He has previously served as Director of the Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (AIPM: a joint office of multinational pharmaceutical companies); General Director of the Nationa Medical Centre, Hungary; and Department Chief for Health Care Policy with the Hungarian Ministry of Health.

He is a member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH); the Hungarian Association of Hematology and Blood Transfusion; the Hungarian Association of Internal Medicine; the Hungarian Association of Immunology; the Hungarian Association of Chemotherapy; and the Hungarian Association of Oncology.

He has 51 publications and 520 independent citations; 3 Hungarian and 2 international patents, and has been awarded a total of 22 scientific grants, both within Hungary and internationally. He has also amassed significant teaching experience throughout his career, including teaching of medical students, nurses, and postgraduates.
