Professor of Biomedical Informatics and Biostatistics at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF, Barcelona), Director of the Research Programme on Biomedical Informatics (GRIB) of the UPF and the Hospital del Mar Institute of Medical Research (IMIM, Barcelona).
Author of more than 130 articles in ISI-indexed journals. Coordinator of nine EU-funded initiatives, as well as a STOA report for the European Parliament. Currently, coordinator of an H2020 project on the translational and clinical application of Bioinformatics (MedBioinformatics), and academic coordinator an IMI (Innovative Medicines Initiative) project on the in silico prediction of drug toxicity (eTOX). Partner in other three ongoing IMI (OpenPHACTS, EMIF and iPiE) and H2020 projects (EU-ToxRisk and ELIXIR-EXCELERATE).
President of the European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC) from January 2003 to December 2005. Vice-rector for Scientific Policy of the UPF from January 2004 to March 2009. Former member of the IMI Scientific Committee.
